We are hiring immediately for an Sr. Electrical Engineer in Edmonton Area- a role that is critical in making sure our customers get the electricity, heating and cooling they need.
You will be involved with projects in a variety of settings, including refineries, chemical plants, utility substations, construction sites, mines, automotive factories, rock concerts, food processing facilities, golf tournaments, and fossil fuel, nuclear, wind, and PV power stations.

What you’ll do:
Design and implement safe, reliable, and efficient electrical power generation and distribution systems.
Help the sales team secure contracts by visiting client sites and crafting creative economical solutions.
Lead the provision of technical applications support to operations and sales team.
Provide technical review of complex projects and support the sales team with complex technical / commercial proposals that meet customer requirements.
Work closely with Project Design and Sales to ensure that design is accurate and fit for purpose.
Provide ongoing support to the Project teams and builds local project capability.
Provide advice to the Commercial team on the technical component of bids.
Manages complex enquiries related to application design.
Test, install, commission, program, and troubleshoot low voltage and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, voltage regulators, motor controllers, and PLCs.
Use (ETAP) to perform engineering studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protective device selection and coordination, motor starting, transient stability, arc-flash, and grounding electrode systems
Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Create and modify single-line diagrams, location plans, grounding plans, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Carry out peer-review of engineering deliverables.
Inspect equipment and systems for electrical code and safety deficiencies.
Travel approximately 25% across Canada and occasionally to US and Europe for meetings.
We’re experts, which means you’ll have the following skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering
10+ years of relevant work experience with transformers, motors and other rotating machines, switchgear, protective relays, PLCs, etc.
PE license preferred
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities
General understanding of engineering economics, estimating, budgeting, and basic financial principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to persuade through the use of logical arguments and objective data
Working knowledge of relevant industry-consensus codes and standards from NFPA, IEEE, and UL
