Sault College is seeking qualified part-time faculty to support Welding and Metal Fabrication programming within the School of Trades, Technology and Apprenticeship.
We are looking for experienced trades professionals who want to share their industry knowledge and help students and apprentices develop the technical skills, practical ability, and professional standards required within the welding and metal fabrication industries.
Instruction may be assigned within post-secondary Welding and Metal Fabrication programs, and apprenticeship training across multiple skilled trades areas.
What You'll Teach
Part-Time instructors may teach across one or more areas, including:
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG)
- Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
- Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW)
- Oxyfuel and plasma cutting processes
- Blueprint reading and welding symbols
Courses combine classroom instruction with hands-on shop and lab learning aligned with Ontario apprenticeship and post-secondary curriculum standards.
What We're looking For
We are seeking individuals who:
- Hold a Certificate of Qualification in a related welding or metal fabrication trade recognized in Ontario
- Possess relevant Red Seal certification where applicable
- Have recent and relevant industry experience in welding, fabrication, fitting, layout or metal working environments
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of welding processes, fabrication methods, blueprint interpretation, and shop safety practices
- Can explain technical concepts clearly and connect theory to practical application
The Following are Considered Assets:
- CWB certifications
- Experience with automated cutting systems, CNC plasma tables, or advanced fabrication processes
- Previous teaching, mentoring, apprenticeship training, or supervisory experience
- Experience supporting apprenticeship training across multiple skilled trades environments
Instruction is assigned based on your trade background and area of expertise.
What You'll Do
- Deliver theory and practical instruction in classroom, shop, and lab environments
- Demonstrate welding, cutting, fitting, and fabrication techniques safely and effectively
- Support students and apprentices in developing both technical knowledge and practical skills
- Evaluate student progress through assignments, testing, practical assessments, and shop performance
- Reinforce industry expectations around safety, workmanship, professionalism, and quality standards
- Use the College learning management system and related instructional technologies as required

This is a part-time instructor position, $61.01/hour - $115.13/hour.
