The Rental Counter Associate is responsible for assisting customers with their equipment rental needs, preparing rental contracts, coordinating equipment availability, and working closely with our sales, service, yard, and delivery teams.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicating with customers in person and over the phone, and learning about a wide variety of construction and industrial rental equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in person, over the phone, and by email with rental inquiries
- Help customers select the appropriate equipment for their job or application
- Prepare and process rental contracts, reservations, quotations, and returns
- Coordinate equipment availability, deliveries, pick-ups, and customer requirements
- Communicate with the yard, service department, delivery drivers, and sales team to ensure rentals are handled efficiently
- Provide customers with basic information regarding the safe and proper operation of rental equipment
- Maintain accurate customer and rental information in the computer system
- Follow up on equipment availability and outstanding rental requirements
- Inspect and document equipment condition during the rental and return process when required
- Assist with coordinating equipment transfers between locations
- Maintain an organized and professional rental counter and customer service area
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Build strong relationships with customers and provide professional, courteous service
Requirements / Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable communicating with customers both in person and over the phone
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn rental management software
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy work environment
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail when preparing contracts and entering customer information
- Ability to learn and understand construction and rental equipment
- Comfortable working with customers to identify their needs and recommend appropriate equipment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take responsibility for assigned tasks

Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in the equipment rental industry
- Experience with construction or industrial equipment
- Previous customer service, counter sales, or inside sales experience
- Familiarity with construction sites, contractors, and trades
- Experience preparing quotes, work orders, rental contracts, or invoices
- Mechanical aptitude or general knowledge of construction equipment
Candidates with equipment rental or construction equipment experience will be given priority consideration.
