The City of Salmon Arm is accepting applications for a Part Time Lifeguards at the SASCU Recreation Centre. Reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, this successful candidate will work in lifeguarding and instructing at an indooraquatic centre. This position works in accordance with established practices and procedures, supervises patrons andenforces facility use rules.
The Lifeguard will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to:
- Performs lifeguard duties in accordance with established facility practices and procedures. (Pool Safety Plan)
- Instructs aquatic programs in accordance with established program guidelines and standards. (LifesavingSociety)
- Supervises pool activities during swimming sessions.
- Enforces pool rules and communicates with the public in a positive and constructive manner.
- Patrols, cleans and checks washrooms, pool deck, change rooms and showers.
Availability to work weekends is essential to meet business demands. This position will require flexibility in scheduling and includes weekend shifts. The successful candidate must be available to work weekends and holidays based onoperational requirements.
Candidates for this position will have their Standard First Aid, National Lifeguard Certification and Swim Instructor –LSS Certification. The successful candidate will be required to submit a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (PoliceInformation Check) prior to starting. Remuneration for this position is in accordance with the CUPE Local 1908 Collective Agreement, $25.20 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits and vacation.
