Job Summary
We are seeking an organized and efficient Truck Dispatcher to coordinate freight operations within our logistics team. The ideal candidate will manage daily dispatch activities, optimize transportation schedules, and ensure timely delivery of shipments. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with transportation management systems to support our supply chain and third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
Duties
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers, trucks, and loads according to delivery schedules.
- Monitor vehicle locations and provide route instructions to drivers.
- Communicate with customers, warehouses, and drivers regarding shipment status.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries to ensure timely transportation of goods.
- Maintain dispatch records, delivery documents, and driver logs.
- Resolve transportation issues such as delays, breakdowns, and route changes.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Skills
- Proficiency in an existing transportation management system(s)
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and typing speed.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret logistics data and optimize freight operations.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems.
- Excellent proficiency in Adobe & Microsoft Suite particularly Microsoft Excel
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism through phone etiquette.
