The position at a glance
The Senior Credit Analyst supports BNP Paribas's mission by ensuring the robust management of credit risk within the Diversified Industrials sector. This role contributes to the bank's growth strategy through meticulous credit assessment and active participation in business development activities. The primary objective is to maintain portfolio quality while facilitating efficient transaction turnarounds for corporate clients.
In detail
- Manage the credit quality of assigned Diversified Industrials Corporate Clients by conducting periodic reviews of financial statements and industry trends to ensure sound risk oversight.
- Execute advanced projection modeling for IG and sub-IG leveraged and non-leveraged groups to maintain accurate risk assessments.
- Collaborate with Sector Coverage Bankers and product groups during deal team participation to drive the credit process for new origination activity.
- Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda for new transactions, annual reviews, and amendments to provide reasoned credit recommendations.
- Evaluate clients and transactions for risk-related changes to ensure continuous monitoring of the portfolio's stability.
- Coordinate with Risk, Bankers, and Product Teams to facilitate thorough credit assessments and ensure an efficient turnaround of transactions.
- Support team members through collaborative contributions to ensure the collective success of the Corporate Credit Management Team.
- Maintain detailed portfolio reporting, including exposure tracking and regulatory requirements, to meet internal and external documentation standards.
- Interact with other bank branches and auditors during loan examinations to align on client strategy and compliance.
- Attend bank meetings and client calls alongside Bankers to maintain a committed and supportive relationship with stakeholders.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting or Master in Finance and/or MBA/CFA
- The knowledge of English is required.*
- Minimum 6 years of prior experience in corporate banking or at rating agencies covering Corporate Clients.
- Reasoned financial statement analysis and fundamental corporate credit analysis skills when evaluating client health.
- Understanding of general banking products, loan structures, and credit agreements to support transaction workflows.
- Advanced projection modeling skills for accurate financial forecasting.
- Organized and committed approach to managing complex tasks and deadlines.
- Professional business writing and verbal skills for interacting with stakeholders.
- Responsible approach to operating within a team and interacting with senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel for daily reporting and analysis.
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Professional working proficiency in English language is required.
