Reporting to the Project Manager, this position position supervises and facilitates the construction phase of projects by directly managing sub-contractors and providing oversight and project support for production, safety, quality and project management standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational direction and project management principles to the planning, design and operation of rehabilitative and inspection projects.
- Review estimates for assigned projects.
- Site visits to assess traffic requirements, work shift type for prep and lining.
- Update P6 with findings from the field.
- Discuss with PM any issues found in the field that haven’t been captured in the estimate and / or might affect scheduling
- Observe and bring forward any safety concerns or observations identified in the field with PM, GS and Safety Manager
- Attend client Pre-Construction meetings, Progress meetings – as required
- Apply for applicable permits
- Assist field crews with delivering 48hrs notices to residents, when needed.
- Reviewing prep videos and finals for concerns and escalating potential issues as well as updating the system.
- Make all necessary arrangements for Traffic Control for both prep crews & lining crews
- Locate cleanouts for Building Bypass where required – ask for assistance from the Superintendents and / or the GS if needed
- Discuss mainline bypass requirements with Ops and draft bypass plans – review with PM prior to submittal to Clients / Consultant Engineers as required
- Prepare work packages for all crews (prep & lining)
- Maintain strong working relationships at job sites with field leadership and crews.
- Act as liaison between field and office.
- Perform regular site visits to assess project progress and crew productivity.
- Track job costs & report to PM any variances
- Draft monthly invoices and submit to PM for review & approval
- Approve Time sheets for assigned crews and report any inconsistencies between charged activities / material info and the measured data in P6
- Carry out Monthly Safety Culture Day as assigned
Qualifications
- Project Management Certificate, Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Degree, or Technical Diploma from an accredited technical institution.
- Previous experience in water/sewer or municipal environment is an asset.
- Ability to plan, schedule and assign work of crews including training and communication updates
- Must have a solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and databases, Microsoft Project and JD Edwards software experience an asset.
- Ability to complete applicable reports, calculations, records and administrative tasks
- Strong communication skills and the ability to give presentations
- Approximately 30% travel
