We are looking for Casual Youth Care Workers (On-Call/Relief) for our therapeutic programs. You will work as part of a team to provide support, care, and mentorship to at-risk youth with complex mental health, behavioural challenges, substance use, and/or involvement in the criminal justice system. A variety of shifts are available, allowing you to work around school, family, or other obligations.
Locations include: North Vancouver, Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, Abbotsford. Candidates must be available to work in at least two locations.
You must have:
Ability to meet our Relief/Casual Team Guidelines and Expectations which includes availability requirements for on-call shifts
High school diploma
Relevant experience working with at-risk youth with mental health challenges and substance use
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Minimum Class 7N BC Driver's License (Class 5 preferred) and acceptable driving record
You’ll score more points if you have:
Completed or attending post-secondary education in Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Criminology, Social Services, or related field
Current Naloxone training
Current First Aid and CPR certificate
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Mandt certification
Experience and/or knowledge with First Nations culture and teachings
Knowledge of FASD, attachment, trauma, and other behavioural challenges
Experience with de-escalation and crisis management

Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication
Salary: $21.68-$22.25/hour + 4% vacation pay on each pay cheque
