Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of Transducer Development, the Transducer Technician will be responsible for supporting the corporate wide engineering and quality mandates, and will work on the Transducer Development Team. Key responsibilities include operation and maintenance of R&D equipment, assembly of transducer prototypes, testing of transducer prototypes, documentation of assembly process, testing process and test results, review of requirements and design documentation, quality goal setting, and recommending process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
Operation and maintenance of R&D equipment including, but not limited to, dicing saw, lapping machines, grinding machines, drill press.
Assembly of array transducer prototypes.
Assembly and evaluation of in house designed tools.
Create test procedures and test records for prototype testing of array transducers and sub-components such as PCBs and cables.
Testing of array transducer performance using test equipment (i.e., VNA, oscilloscope, pulse generator), water tank and associated equipment, including hydrophones.
Assist in sourcing of components.
Advise of any ideas for the improvement of design and assembly processes.
In a timely fashion, report any variances from the target completion date of the tasks, or that the tasks cannot be completed.
Work effectively in collaboration with staff across the organization.
Create/update transducer assembly procedures, test plans and design documents.
Other duties as directed by Transducer Development Manager, and Project Manager, or Senior Management.

Knowledge/Experience:
Formal post-secondary degree/diploma in engineering or a related discipline or equivalent work experience is desirable.
Experience handling small parts.
Experience working with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality standards is desirable.
Experience in development and execution of test plans in a development environment.
Experience working (as an intern or full-time employee) for a commercial diagnostic ultrasound company is an asset.
Experience working in a clinical environment is an asset.
Experience with all aspects of the development lifecycle.

Skills:
Ability to operate a dicing saw is an asset.
Ability to operate lapping or grinding machines is an asset.
Familiarity with mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Ability to assemble and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical and electronic subsystems.
Familiar with ultrasound transducer measurement equipment including hydrophones, positioning systems, data acquisition software.
Familiar with the function and use of Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal and Pulse Generators.
Ability to plan and execute testing activities and projects
Familiarity with Microsoft family of products (Word / Excel).
Familiarity of ultrasound software and imaging, and/or must be willing to learn to possess knowledge and experience in ultrasound software and imaging applications.
Accuracy and strong attention to detail is essential.
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English).
