Prepares comprehensive mapping products and provides design and drafting services for projects using City of Saskatoon mapping standards.
Develops and maintains base AutoCAD drawings, creates graphics for plans or prints and provides necessary data clean-up on external drawings.
Provides detailed coordination of any mapping request with relevant civic departments and consultants.
Develops processes for the maintenance of a regional plans, concept plans or sector plans, zoning & land use, using a background knowledge City of Saskatoon Planning processes.
Reviews specifications and provides cost estimates and drawings for capital projects or internal and external requests.
Provides written and oral instruction, guidance, and assistance to AutoCAD users with less experience.
Conducts data collection from outside agencies and compiles it to comply with City of Saskatoon mapping standards
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary program such as civil engineering, drafting technology or a related discipline and successful completion of recognized AutoCAD and ArcGIS courses.
Certification, or eligible for certification, as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) by the Technology Professionals Saskatchewan or related professional designation.
Five years related experience with GIS applications. Experience in Planning would be an asset.
Ability to perform advanced drafting and design.
Demonstrated skill in Computer Aided Drafting, using AutoCAD Map 3D, involving complex technical drawings and meticulous skills in file management.
Demonstrated skill in the use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thorough knowledge of GIS concepts and related software.
Demonstrated skill in the use of ArcGIS for data and database maintenance.
Ability to analyze and evaluate mappable information and communicate this information using colour, symbols, and style.
Thorough knowledge of Planning terminology, practices, and techniques, with a focus on zoning and land use (OCP).
Knowledge of the organization, interrelation, policies, and programs of civic departments.
Ability to maintain attention to detail. Drawing and Maintaining clear and accurate drawings are of the utmost importance.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
$68,100.96 to $75,081.60 per annum (2021 rates)
