Reporting to the Manager, Regional Cardiac Rehabilitation And Prevention Program, this position will be responsible primarily for patient registration, various clerical functions and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to function effectively in an organized manner, using self-direction to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
Requirements:
  • Completion of Medical Secretarial Program or equivalent healthcare related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year previous secretarial booking experience in a medical setting.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology (Cardiovascular Rehabilitation).
  • Minimum 1 year scheduling patients using Cardiologica required.
  • Minimum 1 year previous booking or scheduling experience in a Regional Integrated Service.
  • Proficiency in computer skills – Microsoft Office Professional (Excel, Word, Access, etc).
  • Excellent keyboarding skills – minimum 40 wpm.
  • Possess strong client service focus through excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with patients across the CE LHIN, public interaction, handling sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy, respecting confidentiality.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work in stressful constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
