Tomlinson is looking for a Loader Operator. The selected candidate must be able to work safely by operating heavy equipment in close proximity to vehicles and pedestrians. Having previous knowledge of Sewer and water materials is an asset. This position reports to and works under the guidance of the Site Foreman.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Practice workplace safety to ensure the safety of fellow employees and public.
Works under the direction of the site foreman, to complete daily schedule of work
Performs daily safety and maintenance checks
Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
Advise Foreman of any required maintenance or repairs
Participate in routine maintenance
REQUIRED SKILLS
Experience with water and sewer installation
Comfortable using pallet forks to move materials and unload trucks
5 + years’ of experience in the operation of heavy equipment in the field and city environment and close proximity of manpower
Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures including but not limited to backing up procedures, use of flagmen and spotters, signage, incident reporting, required personal safety equipment and lifting of heavy loads.
Knowledge of equipment operation, cleaning and maintenance requirements
Analytical and problem solving skills
Effective communication skills (both listening and verbal)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must work in all weather conditions and be prepared for both extreme heat and cold
May at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection
Must be able to work independently and maintain a schedule of work and able to take direction
