Homes Not Handcuffs (HNH) is a holistic, person-centered program that assists individuals with stable housing, coordinated care, emergency financial assistance, and community connection, with a focus on dignity, choice, and long-term well-being.
Job Overview
We are hiring a full-time Housing & Recovery Navigator to join our Saskatoon team. This role provides apartment-based support through our HNH program, supporting women experiencing homelessness or housing instability through intensive case management, housing stabilization, and recovery-oriented support.
The successful candidate will be primarily based at EFSK’s supportive housing apartment building while also maintaining a community caseload. This role provides a consistent daily presence for tenants, supports participants in navigating housing and social service systems, and helps individuals work toward long-term stability and wellness.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, trauma-informed, and experienced in supporting individuals with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
Apartment-Based Housing Supports
- Provide daily on-site support to tenants living in supportive housing
- Conduct tenant check-ins and support housing stability and tenancy success
- Assist with move-ins, orientations, and individualized healing plans
- Support tenants with appointments, identification, income assistance, and system navigation
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment
Community Housing Navigation
- Maintain an active community caseload focused on housing stabilization
- Support individuals transitioning from homelessness into stable housing
- Assist with housing searches, applications, landlord communication, and eviction prevention
- Connect participants to detox, treatment, and recovery supports
- Attend Coordinated Access meetings and support referrals through the By-Name List
Holistic Support and Coordination
- Develop individualized healing plans and provide ongoing case management
- Support life skills development including budgeting and daily living supports
- Connect participants to education, training, and employment readiness supports
- Advocate for culturally safe and trauma-informed services
- Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and HIFIS reporting
Team and Program Support
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning
- Support outreach, referrals, and intake processes as needed
- Collaborate with other HNH team members and community partners
Qualifications
Required:
- Education in Social Work, Human Services, Addictions, or equivalent experience
- Experience providing case management, housing navigation, or outreach support
- Understanding of trauma, homelessness, addiction, colonization, and criminalization
- Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple participants
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
Preferred:
- Experience working in supportive housing or homelessness programs
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs
- Familiarity with HIFIS, SPDAT, and community support systems
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and culturally grounded practices
- Lived experience considered an asset
