Grade 3/4 Teacher
Oakridge Montessori School is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dynamic educator to join our team as a full-time Grade 3/4 Teacher.
Located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Oakridge Montessori is a small independent school serving students from Preschool through Grade 4. Our educational approach blends Montessori philosophy with the BC Curriculum, creating a nurturing environment where students develop independence, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
We are looking for a passionate teacher who values relationship-based teaching, differentiated instruction, and fostering a positive classroom community. The successful candidate will inspire students academically, socially, and emotionally while helping them develop the skills needed to become confident, capable learners.
The ideal candidate embraces a balance of Montessori philosophy and direct instruction, recognizing that students learn best through a combination of hands-on exploration, meaningful relationships, and explicit teaching.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the BC Curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes independence, responsibility, and respect.
- Assess student progress and communicate effectively with families.
- Create meaningful learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student success and school initiatives.
- Participate in school events, field trips, and community activities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid BC Teaching Certificate, or eligibility to obtain certification in British Columbia.
- Internationally trained teachers with recognized teaching credentials from their home country are encouraged to apply and may be considered for suitable positions.
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably in Grades 3 and/or 4.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.
- Flexibility, professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
- A collaborative and positive approach to working with students, families, and colleagues.
Previous Montessori experience is considered an asset but is not required. Training and mentorship may be available for the right candidate.
