Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and personable Art Gallery Sales Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be the welcoming face of our gallery, engaging with visitors and assisting them in discovering and purchasing artwork. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a passion for art, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service. Experience in Fine Art or retail or sales environments are highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to work alongside world class art.
Duties
- Greet visitors warmly and provide information about current exhibitions and artwork on display
- Assist customers with selecting art pieces that meet their preferences and needs
- Manage sales transactions accurately using POS systems, including cash handling and receipts
- Keep track of inventory levels and assist with hanging art as needed
- Provide detailed explanations of artwork, artists, and pricing to facilitate informed purchasing decisions
- Handle customer inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism and courtesy
- Support organizational tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining records
- Light cleaning and organization of space
- Be able to assist in art delivery( not required but is an asset)
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and active listening
- Strong organizational skills
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Proficiency with POS systems, cashiering, and retail sales procedures
- Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to build rapport with diverse clientele
- Upselling techniques to maximize sales opportunities without pressuring customers
- Knowledge of Canadian Fine Art
- Familiarity with technology sales or technical sales is advantageous but not required
Additional Details
Hours: 11am-5pm (Part Time, weekdays), responsible for opening and closing.
A degree in Fine Art is not required but seen as an asset.
$22 an hour plus commission
