As a Lead Hand, you will play a key role in overseeing and guiding a construction crew to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest standards. You will be responsible for hands-on work while also supervising, coordinating tasks, and assisting with site management.
What you’ll need:
- Proven experience in construction, with strong carpentry skills and the ability to operate various types of construction equipment
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints with accuracy
- Experience managing teams and coordinating manpower across multiple sites
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise between the Project Manager, clients, and employees
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain security clearances, if required
- Flexibility to work on any given project until instructed by the PM to assist elsewhere
- Ability to travel to northern or remote sites for specific projects, as needed
What you’ll do:
- Act as the “eyes on the ground” to assist the Project Manager with day-to-day site operations
- Provide real-time updates and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Supervise and allocate manpower between various job sites to optimize productivity
- Review and confirm site drawings and measurements, relaying information back to the PM
- Ensure accurate documentation of project changes
- Create As-Built drawings to reflect final project conditions and submit them to the PM
- Document pile torque readings and pile locations, ensuring precise records are kept
- Coordinate material pickups, manage safety supplies, and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and available on-site
- Lead toolbox meetings to reinforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Operate construction equipment and use technology for project tracking, documentation, and communication
