As a multifaceted database specialist, you will develop and maintain database design, access and processing functions to support end users in our busy contact centre environment. Based in our London office, you will configure, patch and troubleshoot all database applications as required, responding to user and software system issues in a timely manner. Your technical expertise is essential to ensure data is available and kept secure from unauthorized access and corruption.
What you will do in this position:
You will create and design models for new database development or modify, import, export existing databases as required. As a valued technical resource for IS, you will ensure coding standards for SQL scripts are maintained and best practices are used. Working with stakeholders, you will create/update business rules and requirements for client data processing as well as data application functions. You will plan and coordinate data migrations and upgrades, transferring data in and out of databases as per specifications. Among your many responsibilities, you will maintain replication server and physical data storage for all database systems.
We need you to have:
University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science with 2 years relevant work experience
Experience with database design and structures
In-depth knowledge and proficiency in SYBASE, MS SQL Server, SQL Scripting (Store Procedures), Unix – HR-UX and Linux, including the ability to design and compose shell scripts, Hadoop, PIG, HIVE and MapReduce
Working knowledge of operating systems, i.e. Windows, Unix
Internet/Intranet experience using Internet Explorer, Security, Web Design, etc.
Ability to effectively operate computer, software, and peripheral equipment, i.e. Windows 2000, MS Office Outlook, MS Project
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
