Completed post-secondary diploma in a related field.
Minimum one (1) year of current work-related experience, with demonstrated working knowledge of benefit plans, pension plan administration, payroll processes, and interpretation of working agreements.
A Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation, or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferred.
Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Telestaff an asset.
Working knowledge of related legislation including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and privacy legislation.
Excellent computer skills in MS Office, and the ability to multitask.
Demonstrated initiative, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills while maintaining accuracy, coupled with a strong commitment to customer needs/HR objectives, working in a team environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion with confidential information.
Valid Class “G” Driver’s License.
The duties for this position will involve, but are not limited to:
Calculate and process premiums, acting ranks and other entitlements as outlined in the current Working Agreements.
Validate and process cleaning and clothing allowances for uniform members.
Process and input duty exception sheets and pay related items bi-weekly.
Collect and enter into Peoplesoft Temporary Timesheets and ensure they are correctly authorized.
Balance member banks when requested by making the adjusting entries in Telestaff and ensure the entry complies to current working agreements.
Prepare payroll-related correspondence and information packages for new employee orientation.
Prepare salary step progression memos for civilians. Update and maintain step progression tracking spreadsheet.
Complete, distribute and track T2200 forms for all members.
Assist members and respond to questions regarding group health benefit programs, policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate filing systems of all payroll related documentation, including appropriate retention of historical information.
Responsible for providing advice and guidance to other YRP members regarding benefits and pay issues, and assisting members with TeleStaff entry inquiries.
Responsible for developing and updating process reference documentation to assist with training new staff and as a reference tool.
Calculates and processes vehicle taxable benefit information for Senior Officer and Mobile Support Unit members.
Compiles bi-weekly and monthly activity reports to Finance office for casual employees and RIDE program.
Provides members with employment letters and verifies required information with financial institutions.
