The Operations Finance Director oversees the manufacturing and supply chain financial planning, reporting functions, and provides leadership to the Operations Finance team while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.
Oversee the manufacturing and supply chain financial planning, reporting, and budget management functions
Provide direction, support and coaching to the Inventory, Cost, and Plant Accountants to ensure success of the department’s overall goals
Manage staff, oversee staff reviews and development plans, and help grow the team
Participate in the development and support of the company’s strategic plans and annual operating plan
Assist with the preparation of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) presentations and reports on a monthly basis
Lead the finance review in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cadence
Review the monthly financial statements for all manufacturing plants and analyze the monthly variance reports to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the results
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
Support production plant leadership with cost per unit (CPU) reporting and analysis, and provide recommendations to improve efficiencies and ways to lower costs
Report on the performance of operational and financial KPIs to the senior management team (inventory turns, margins and GP % by business units)
Oversee the financial integration of operational software into the ERP system (software like an MES and WMS)
Communicate and collaborate with department leaders to stay abreast of spending, budgeting, reports and evaluation
Help explain the results of manufacturing analysis to non-financial decision makers
Establish, document, and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures
Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
Strictly adhere to and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions

A CPA (CA, CGA, or CMA) designation required
7-10 years’ experience in progressive senior roles; at least 7 years of management experience is preferred
Experience with financial statement presentation in a manufacturing environment is essential
Prior experience with MRP and ERP accounting systems
Prior experience with an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) or WMS (Warehouse Management System) an asset
Strong understanding of GAAP and ASPE
APICS training or certifications an asset
Ability to excel in a dynamic environment, learning and adapting quickly
Ability to work independently and show initiative
Proven ability to guide and motivate others
Excellent verbal and written communication skill with the ability to communicate with all levels of management
Ability to prioritize and discern the time to devote to value added and non-value-added activities.
