Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee and manage our day-to-day transportation operations. This role will be responsible for leading a team of dispatchers, coordinating fleet activities, supporting load planning, and ensuring smooth communication across departments including safety, maintenance, and accounts.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on dispatch experience, and a deep understanding of trucking operations across Canada and the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of 4 dispatchers, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and performance
- Assist with load planning and booking freight using Loadlink and established company/broker relationships
- Oversee daily dispatch operations to ensure maximum fleet utilization and profitability
- Maintain continuous communication with drivers and dispatch team regarding schedules, updates, and operational issues
- Coordinate with Safety & Compliance Officer to ensure drivers and fleet meet all regulatory and company requirements (HOS, documentation, etc.)
- Work closely with yard mechanics and external vendors to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and minimize downtime
- Liaise with senior management to align operational goals and ensure team is informed on priorities and updates
- Collaborate with the accounts team to ensure timely billing, documentation, and collection of payments
- Monitor fleet performance using GPS/fleet tracking systems (e.g., Samsara)
- Handle escalations such as delays, breakdowns, or service issues professionally and efficiently
- Maintain accurate operational records and reporting
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of dispatching experience with proven leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of Canada and U.S. trucking operations, including cross-border procedures
- Hands-on experience with Loadlink and other load boards
- Familiarity with compliance, safety regulations, and fleet management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability
- Experience coordinating across multiple departments (dispatch, maintenance, compliance, accounts) is a strong asset
