Position Description
Act One is an established drama school that has been providing training for over 29 years for ages 5 to adult in acting for Stage and Film, Improvisation and Musical Theatre.
The school maintains a large studio space with fully functional stage, lighting and sound equipment for its training facility.
The school is seeking new instructors to teach Stage Theatre and General Acting Technique to students aged 8-17.
Positions Available (3):
- Drama Instructor: Mondays 5:00-8:00pm
- Drama Instructor: Wednesdays 5:00-10:00pm
- Drama Instructor: Saturdays 9:00am-3:00pm
Classes run once per week for 36 weeks.
Candidates should be prepared to provide age-appropriate instruction for classes of 5-10 students in general theatre and specific acting concepts and skills.
The first half of the year (Fall Term) involved an instructional/educational format using theatre games, exercises, scene work and monologues to convey introductory and general performance concepts and techniques.
In the second half of the year (Winter Term), instructors will divide their time between solo performance/monologue technique and helping their students select and prepare to perform a year end short play.

Other Notes:
- Candidates MUST have completed a post-secondary performing arts program or have comparable professional performance or teaching experience.
- Travel allowance available for instructors coming from east of Oshawa or west of Scarborough.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $33.00 per hour
