Accounting Technician — Public Practice
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to join our public-practice team in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
We are looking for a CPA or non-designated accountant with 3+ years of public-practice experience who is comfortable managing a variety of accounting, tax, and client-service responsibilities.
The successful candidate is detail-oriented, organized, resourceful, and able to work independently while maintaining a high standard of client service.
What We’re Looking For

- 3+ years of experience in a public-practice accounting environment
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- A professional approach and commitment to providing exceptional client service
- Experience with Caseware, Jazz-It, TaxCycle, and QuickBooks
- CPA designation is an asset but is not required
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
Your responsibilities will include a variety of accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and client-service activities, including:
- Preparing personal and corporate tax returns, including T1, T2, and T3 returns
- Preparing GST returns
- Preparing Compilation Engagements (4200)
- Preparing year-end adjusting entries and account reconciliations for corporations
- Providing bookkeeping services for corporations and proprietorships as required
- Communicating with clients and meeting with them to obtain information and explain their tax returns
- Preparing tax plans and estimating/projecting tax instalments
- Responding to CRA audits and requests for information
- Preparing adjustment requests and following projects through to completion
- Processing payroll, preparing payroll slips, and filing Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Preparing annual information slips, including T4, T5, T5018, and T4A
- Assisting with other accounting and tax projects as required
