The role: Reporting to the Bylaw Services Manager and working as part of the bylaw enforcement team, the Animal Control Officer performs administrative, inspectional, investigative, and regulatory work related to animal control bylaws. A principle function of the Animal Control Officer is to support community safety through educating the public on responsible pet ownership. The work involves considerable public relations contact and requires the exercise of independent judgment, action, tact and diplomacy within policy, regulation, and bylaw limits. This position reports to the Bylaw Services Manager who oversees the City’s enforcement operations. The Animal Control Officer will provide support to the Bylaw Enforcement Officers when required.
What we offer: The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $41.58 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. Please note that this is an on-call position and work is scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Hours of Work: This is a casual, on-call position with flexible scheduling and no guaranteed hours. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, and is available to work on short notice, and is flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
