Job Summary
Dr Gagliardi's Optometric Clinic is looking to hire an Optician/Optometric Assistant who is willing to start as soon as possible. We are looking for individuals with a friendly personality that is very personable with clients and colleagues. Dr Gagliardi is dedicated to improving the vision care of the community by providing some of the finest and latest eyewear technology and services. Dr Gagliardi is looking for someone to join the team in Woodbridge ON who has a strong background in dispensing and sales. Please submit a resume and cover letter for our review.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Must be available for Saturdays and some evening hrs.
- Assist the customer in selecting frames and lenses that are best suited for their lifestyle, Rx and price needs. Suggests improvements and recommends solutions to problems.
- Assists other retail associates with difficult or complex areas of customer product needs and prescriptions
- Shows patience and courtesy with customers track down answers to unfamiliar questions or products.
- Assists co-workers who have questions or problems
- Acts as a leader in optical acumen that provides a voice for associates due to their expertise.
- Educates the customer on products and services including eyewear care tips, complimentary adjustments, follow-up services, protection plans, and warranties.
- Handles tasks, such as taking and recording measurements, adjusting or fitting eyewear carefully and correctly, is thorough and exact in details.
- Ensures finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements/requests.
- Operates the point of sale inputting customer and prescription information with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Accurately operates the point of sale, when required and retaining proper change for a variety of transactions, such as credit cards, discounts, insurance, and coupons.
- Takes pride in the appearance of the store and ensures visual displays are in accordance with company provided planograms.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Optical License in Ontario
- Italian is an asset
- 1-3 years of experience working in the optical dispensing
- Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise
- Open minded and adaptable to new environments
- Self-motivated with a passion for the optical industry
- Knowledge of current store merchandise assortment and use of Inventory management systems.
- Strong communicator and listener
- Sales skills
- Comfortable with use of technology to engage patients, customers, and associates
