DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Supervisor Key Accounts, the Business Analyst, Key Accounts is responsible for ensuring that all standard and non-standard agreements are administered according to current policy as well as supporting the success of the Key Accounts and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Teams. This role will act as a resource to all internal business units liaising regularly with multiple departments across the organization including Customer Connections, Customer Operations, Legal, Regulatory, Finance and Projects as well as with Transmission Facility Owners, AESO, and distribution and transmission-connected customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
- Support daily operations of the Key Accounts and DER teams to achieve performance targets and continuous improvement efforts within the team.
- Research, develop, prepare, and execute all standard and non-standard agreements for transmission/distribution-connected, distributed generation and microgeneration customers, including agreement renewals and the coordination of all matters pertinent to the agreement.
- Liaise with internal and external customers, Regulatory, Finance, and Legal to resolve customer/technical issues and prepare and issue all non-standard agreements or clauses.
- Meet with Regulatory and/or Legal to bring forward rate tariff issues and changes to policies or practices as they relate to both Load and DER Customers.
- Participate in working groups with Engineering, Customer Connections, Capitol Delivery, IT, Finance and Regulatory on process road maps for DER and Energy Storage.
- Research and make recommendations for non-standard issues that may arise, such as escalated customer calls, Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) or Utility Consumer Advocacy (UCA) complaints, or related to rate tariff application, billing, load settlement or metering issues.
- Collaborate with other internal departments with rate specific information requests (IR’s) for internal use, AUC submissions/directives, forecasting purposes, etc.
- Perform administration and intake of ATCO, ENMAX, EPCOR and AltaLink, Asset Transfers, Fringe Customers and Interchange Services.
- Complete flow through of Funding to TFO and AESO as it pertains to new DER requests within the AESO Cluster Study Process to ensure that customer projects are proceeding in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure successful flow through of customer funds and security to the TFO and AESO for both Load and DER on behalf of Customers Projects.
- Identify business issues or deficiencies and provide recommendations to facilitate change.
- Manage other DFO’s Interchange accounts and Accruals.
- Responsible for testing of the ECOM and Buydown tools upon AUC approval of our Terms and Conditions to ensure accuracy before it is released for use by the Customer Connection and Site Management teams.
- Ensure consistent application, interpretation and implementation of the approved rate tariffs, rate investment policies, Terms and Conditions and the Customer Service Manual,
- Develop, update, and distribute information related to the implementation of new rates, including the Customer Service Manual on a yearly basis, computer programs (CRM/SAP), tools and databases and arrange for updates to be placed on the internal/external website as required.
- Work closely with Key Accounts Team to resolve issues and improve Rates and Contracts processes.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), to the Key Accounts Team, other departments, or SME’s including communicating changes , sharing knowledge and being a go-to person for information, issue resolution and special projects.
- Test and recommend changes to systems and processes and determine potential impact to business.
- Intake and reconciliation of funding pertaining to both Load and DER projects.
- Quotation of distributed generation and large microgeneration projects
- Quotation of Rate 65 Buy-Downs, Invoicing and flowthrough of funds to the AESO.
- Management of the Section 101 process to meet the AUC 30-day response requirement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Data entry proficiency with keen attention to detail, accuracy and speed.
- In-depth understanding of FortisAlberta’s Terms and Conditions, Customer Service Manual, rates, their application, interaction, and regulatory constraints including rate policies, their background and impact on industrial, mass market, and Distributed Generation Customers.
- Billing and load settlement knowledge for advanced reconciliations and analysis.
- Advanced industry knowledge relevant to the area (e.g., regulatory, legal, finance).
- Advanced understanding of FortisAlberta’s business processes across departments.
- Proven problem solving skills with a focus on identifying enhancements and improvements to systems and processes.
- Ability to resolve complex issues based on data sets and logic framed for the business needs and environment.
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills allowing transfer of information to wide ranges of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare standard and non-standard communication to external customers.

- Advanced SAP, Demand Based Payments, CIS, Open Items Database/Customer Relations Manager (CRM), CMS system, Power BI, Net Viewer Excel and Word skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a FortisAlberta B4 level position (or higher) is required, including:
- A total of at least three (3) years of experience one or more of the following Coordinator roles: Billing, Customer Connections, Customer Operations, Customer Relations, Distributed Energy Resource (DER), Grid Connections, Meter Data Management, Project Accounting, Project Relations, or Site Management Coordinator.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of experience in a FortisAlberta position in which the primary duties and responsibilities of the position include contracts administration or supporting legal or regulatory submissions would be considered an asset.
