Job Summary:
The Quality & Process Engineering Manager is responsible for upgrading our quality systems, manufacturing processes, and driving process engineering at our Toronto facility producing reflective insulation products. This role also plays a key part in establishing accurate and scalable Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support operational excellence, cost control, and production efficiency.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Quality Management & Assurance: Upgrade the site’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ensure consistent product quality. Monitor production quality performance and address non‑conformances promptly. Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection standards, and procedures. Support customer quality requirements, audits, and corrective action responses
· Process Engineering Improvement & Optimization: Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, waste reduction, and throughput improvement. Lead and implement process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies). Develop standard work, process documentation, and best practices. Ensure processes are scalable, repeatable, and aligned with production targets
· Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving: Lead investigations into quality issues, defects, and process failures. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) using structured tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone). Implement and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Respond quickly to production issues to minimize downtime and scrap
· Bill of Materials (BOM) Development & Accuracy: Lead and support the development, validation, and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all SKUs. Analyze product structures, material usage, and production flows to build accurate and scalable BOMs. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure BOM accuracy and alignment with actual manufacturing processes. Continuously update BOMs to reflect process improvements, material changes, and cost optimization initiatives. Support ERP/MRP system integrity by ensuring BOM data is complete, accurate, and up to date
· Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Production Support: Partner with Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to resolve quality and process challenges. Provide real‑time support on the manufacturing floor to ensure stable operations. Assist with new product introductions, trials, and equipment/process changes
· Maintenance Planning: Support maintenance planning by identifying equipment reliability risks, recommending preventive maintenance improvements, and collaborating with Maintenance to optimize equipment uptime and performance
· Data Analysis, Reporting & Compliance: Track, analyze, and report key quality and process metrics (e.g., scrap, yield, defects, OEE). Maintain accurate documentation and records for audits and compliance. Ensure adherence to company standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
· 6 – 8 years of experience in a quality and/or process engineering role within a manufacturing environment
· Proven ability to lead and manage quality and process improvement initiatives
· Demonstrated experience working in a fast‑paced environment, with a strong sense of urgency and efficiency
· Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with hands‑on troubleshooting ability with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI or equivalent)
· Experience in continuous manufacturing or converting processes
· Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
· Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001 or similar standards)
· Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production data tracking
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
· Manufacturing plant environment with regular shop‑floor presence
· Hands‑on involvement in production areas
· Occasional extended hours to support trials, improvements, or production issues
