The Office of Counselling Services at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications to fill a roster of a call list for a casual Personal Counsellor. Personal Counsellors report directly to the Manager of Counselling.
A degree at the Masters level, or greater, in Educational Counselling, or related discipline
Specific expertise and experience in counselling students in post-secondary education is preferred
Candidate must have, or be clearly eligible and willing to obtain, the Counselling Therapist title with the College of Counselling Therapists in PEI (CCTPEI); similar provincial licensure may be considered
The ideal candidate will possess a background working with university students in educational development and planning
Crisis response training and experience would be valuable to this position
Skills in triage and effective referrals to community resources and managing consultation with medical and psychiatric resources are essential
Experience and comfort working with a diverse student population reflecting the reality of today’s campus, including issues of culture, gender, orientation, and equity are required; lived experience in these areas would be an asset
