Under the supervision of the Business Intelligence and Pricing Manager, the incumbent plays a key role in leveraging commercial and operational data at the Port of Montreal. Through his or her data modeling skills, this person translates large sets of raw data into impactful reports that guide decision-making on behalf of various internal and external clients. He or she will also be called upon to monitor the market and participate in the pricing modernization program.
Participate in the development of decision-making tools

Participate in the development and updating of key performance indicators (KPIs) covering various sectors of the MPA via interactive tools such as Power BI.

Develop insightful reports for various MPA departments as well as for external partners and clients (terminal operators, railways, shipping lines, etc.).

Ensure the maintenance and documentation of recurring reports and KPIs with a view to business continuity.

Ensure the integrity of the data and indicators produced, jointly with the information technology, operations, finance or other business unit teams.

Act as an ambassador for the strategy of maximizing the Power BI tool in the organization by participating in internal super-user committees.

Support internal teams in their market data needs for the development of presentations and promotional material.
Monitor the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) environment.

Comment on and interpret macroeconomic and/or international trade developments and trends and analyze their commercial implications for the Port of Montreal.

Support management in conducting economic and commercial studies or analyses relating to the maritime or logistics industry, such as:

Market share studies of the Port of Montreal compared to competing ports;
-
Specific analyses of certain markets (regions, goods, etc.).

Participate in various strategic studies, including the production of short- and long-term traffic forecasts.

Support the pricing modernization program using targeted analyses.
Conduct various analyses on strategic issues

Conduct commercial and information monitoring in relation to clients, partners, as well as the competitive environment of the MPA.
Represent the MPA on external committees from time to time

Represent the MPA on various sectoral committees and at certain events (conferences, symposiums, etc.) including external corporate presentations.
Participate in the continuous improvement of processes in this position and/or department.

Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in business administration (with specialization in business intelligence), statistics, geography or any other related discipline;

Master’s degree in a discipline related to transportation, an asset;

Possess three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience;
-
Experience in the maritime, port and/or logistics sector, a major asset;

Essential mastery of the Office suite and Power BI. Microsoft Power BI certification an asset;

Excellent ability to analyze and model various data using different languages (DAX, Power Query, SQL an asset);

Autonomy in the search for business intelligence solutions and tools;
