Selkirk Developments is striving for safer job sites, more efficient job sites and completing a well built product. Safe job sites will be clean, have safe walking paths to them, proper signage, fall guards where applicable and other safety requirements monitored. Communication with contractors on site will also be important, to ensure they are following OH&S rules. Efficient job sites will be houses or clusters of houses, where multiple tasks can be finished with minimal commute times between them. Well built products will be reflection of the cleanliness, efficiency and care the goes into a job site.
Selkirk Developments is also expanding its brand awareness. Selkirk will gain ‘word of mouth’ exposure if we continue to deliver quality in a timely manner, but also needs to move beyond that and reach new demographics. This will be done through maintaining a good public image through various means such as, but not limited; clean job sites with signage, delivering houses with no deficiencies, performing after sales service calls.
This position is primarily working with the main Site Technician, the main responsibilities being clean job sites and small construction projects. Other items the employee will help with, the quality control of all homes constructed following all building codes and OH&S rules, general site maintenance, clean up and assistance in maintaining the office/warehouse, providing after sales service including, but not limited to the ‘1 year checkout’. Small projects on job sites that fall outside the scope of sub-contractor must be anticipated. Examples are: framing landings, vapor barrier touch-ups, material deliveries, meeting contractors on site and discussing what is expected and any changes etc.
1. PROJECT AND SITE RESPONSIBILITIES
- General labour functions such as sites cleanup and maintenance, as needed
- Perform touch ups and repairs on deficiencies left by trades
- Quality control of all construction projects
- Ensure homes are being built to code and job sites are safe
- Ensuring OH &S rules are followed on-site by Selkirk staff and sub-trade staff
- Carpentry and general construction work that falls outside of the scope of work of vendors
- Aiding the other Site Technicians in projects
- Communicating with others employees on how projects are progressing
- Ensuring houses are built in a timely manner
2. AIDING THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
- Completing any action items after the ‘walk-through’
- Performing a ‘1 year check out’ at the clients home
- Helping to address all issues that are within Selkirks' scope at the 1 year check out
- Leaving the clients house tidy after the 1 year check out
- Maintaining a good and positive relationship with clients
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintaining Selkirk supplied vehicles (if applicable)
- Checking for wear/damage on the vehicle once a week
- Driving in a courteous manner
- Cleaning the vehicle
- Selection of company tools that the employee will maintain in their vehicle
- Selection of building materials that the employee will keep stocked in their material
Including, but not limited; tape, silicone, paper towels, screw, nails
- Completion of various training modules, when presented
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Ability to organize and communicate schedules and instructions to Selkirk staff and sub- contract staff
- Wear safety and protective gear, protective gear can be provided by Selkirk
- Maintain and service Selkirk Developments tools and equipment, do not leave items in areas where thefts could occur
- Maintaining clean office/warehouse
Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
