Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Mechanic Helper to support our maintenance team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in developing technical skills and gaining hands-on experience in mechanical repairs and equipment maintenance. The role involves assisting experienced mechanics with various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment across our facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of machinery and equipment
- Prepare tools, parts, and materials needed for maintenance tasks
- Learn to diagnose mechanical issues under supervision and support troubleshooting efforts
- Help with the disassembly and reassembly of mechanical components
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear at all times
- Document work performed and report any issues or concerns to senior team members
- Labour activities include wood processing, boiler maintenance, yard clean up, hotshotting parts
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework in mechanics is a plus
- Strong willingness to learn and take direction from experienced mechanics
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools preferred but not required
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, with a strong work ethic
- Prior experience in a maintenance or mechanical environment is advantageous but not necessary
- Class 3 Drivers License
- First aid/CPR level C
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work alone or with a team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 80 per week
