Job Description
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Shop Hand/Yard Support to join our construction team. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of tasks, working with tools and equipment, and supporting day-to-day shop and field operations.
Responsibilities
- Drive truck and trailer to pick up and deliver equipment, materials, and tools
- Perform basic tool maintenance and minor repairs
- Maintain cord and equipment labelling and inspections
- Perform and schedule periodic inspections on trailers, vehicles and equipment ensuring preventative maintenance is fulfilled and kept in exception and safe working order
- Responsible for equipment maintenance, cleaning, painting, and touch-ups
- Ordering and picking up materials for project sites and supporting project supervisors with their material and equipment needs
- Organize and maintain shop and yard areas
- Track and manage tool inventory
- Lead small fabrication or shop projects
- Load/unload equipment and materials
- General labour and shop support duties as required
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (experience towing trailers is an asset)
- Drivers abstract
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to use hand/power tools
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Strong housekeeping and organizational skills
- Takes pride in maintaining clean equipment and work areas
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Forklift or equipment operating equipment experience a must have
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and working in a shop/yard environment
- Basic skills using technology such as iPad, laptop, email, xls. For the purposes of communication and maintaining tool/equipment maintenance lists and fulfilling field requests
