Privacy Specialist – Retail & Shared Services, Brampton, ON

The Privacy Specialist will work under the direction of the Senior Manager, Privacy – Retail & Shared Services to build, implement and operate the Loblaw Privacy Program. The Privacy Specialist will act as a subject matter expert for our Retail and Shared Services business groups, and will provide guidance in addition to performing risk assessments and ensuring that those business groups privacy maturity is in-line with that of the overall enterprise privacy program.

What you’ll do:
Support the development, implementation and management of the privacy compliance program working in collaboration
Provide timely and accurate privacy advice on privacy, CASL and data ethics risks and the identifying the appropriate mitigating controls
Perform risk assessments on new initiatives that involve a new collection, use and disclosures of personal information and on new suppliers / vendors entering the Loblaw environment
Support the development and implementation of privacy policies, standards, procedures, guidelines and tools; and upkeep based on changes to privacy laws, industry standards, trends and business objectives.
Serve as a privacy subject matter expert (SME) and/or embedded resource within the business, as required.
Identify and manage privacy risks in day-to-day operations, including within new and existing projects.
Support the delivery of privacy training and awareness to colleagues, contractors, and third parties. (I.e. developing privacy communications, training and awareness materials).

What you bring:
Hands on experience working in a risk management role.
Post-secondary education at either the college or university level and certificate in CIPP.
Well versed with federal and provincial Canadian privacy laws as well as knowledge of risk management governance and practices, with a particular focus on private sector privacy laws.
An understanding of the Generally Accepted Privacy Principles
Ability to clearly articulate positions in a clear and concise manner
Experience presenting to varying levels of management.
Strong analytical capabilities and ability to synthesize complex information into accessible and meaningful business guidance.
