Human Resources Generalist - Standalone Position
Salary Range of $78,000 to $85,000 based on previous experience
Purpose of the position
Reporting into the CFO, the Human Resources Generalist will develop and execute Human Resources programs consistent with and in support of the organization’s overall business objectives. The Generalist will work in all areas of human resources with focus on policy creation, employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, labour law and compliance, health & safety, and equality. The Generalist will serve as a liaison and employee advocate, working as a Business Partner to leaders throughout the organization.
What you will do:
- Diagnoses issues and identifies HR implications. Works closely with business leaders to rectify issues.
- Protects the interests of the company and employees in accordance with company policies and provincial legislation. Ensures companywide compliance and mitigates company risk.
- Manage employee relations issues, including performance improvement plans, investigations, corrective action, terminations.
- Prepares and reviews all HR related communications and documentation, including, offers of employment, promotions, transfers, corrective action, termination, memos, and company communications
- Oversee/assist and manage all group benefits, retirement savings programs, including, plan designs and renewals
- Provide advice on HR best practices and market trends.
- Back up Payroll Manager with ADP Payroll functions.
- Provides recruitment, selection, and retention guidance to the Leadership team. Reviews all vacant positions and with the participation of the leadership team, determines requirements for vacant positions and efficiently fills all vacancies.
- Leads and develops Health & Safety Programs that are designed to keep our employees safe, and programs that ensures safety standards follow regulatory and corporate guidelines.
- Provides internal coaching, counseling and conflict resolution, services to the leadership team and to employees. Maintains a pulse on employee morale.
What you will need to be successful:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in human resources in a generalist capacity.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial based services, or a related industry.
- Works effectively with all levels in the organization.
- Ability to work with total discretion and with confidential material and information.
- Self-motivated, demonstrates a sense of urgency, and can perform well under pressure
- Is highly organized and works effectively with shifting priorities and rapid change.
- Tech Savvy with superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products and possess the ability to learn systems quickly. Versed in the use of social media platforms that support recruitment and employer branding initiatives
- Aptitude for continuous self-development with a willingness to learn new process, techniques, and technologies.
- Strong customer-focus with good listening and clear message transmission capabilities
- Easily builds relationships, is personable, professional and is effective at establishing relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Well versed in, and posses a good understanding of employment legislation.
- Ability and willingness to accommodate some overnight travel to branches across the country.

- An HR designation preferred.
- Labour Relations Experience
- Bilingual (English and French) would be an asset
