Chief Estimator

Cynergy Mechanical is a leading mechanical services and solutions provider based in

Etobicoke, Ontario, proudly serving clients since 1994. The company specializes in HVAC,

refrigeration, plumbing, and integrated mechanical systems across industrial,

commercial, institutional, and multi-residential sectors.

With a strong focus on service excellence, Cynergy Mechanical delivers installation,

maintenance, emergency response, and ongoing mechanical support solutions designed

to optimize building performance, improve energy e8ciency, and protect long-term asset

value throughout the GTA and Southwestern Ontario.

We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead and develop our estimating

function across HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service and project work. Reporting to

senior leadership and overseeing a small team, this role is responsible for ensuring

accurate, competitive, and consistent estimates while supporting pro<table growth.

This is a build-and-lead opportunity within an evolving function, o=ering the chance to

establish processes, standards, and systems while also mentoring the team and working

closely with operations. It is well suited for a seasoned estimator who combines strong

technical expertise with leadership capability and is motivated by the opportunity to

shape and grow a key function within the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Build and establish the estimating function, creating the systems, standards,

templates, and processes needed to support accuracy, consistency, and scalable

growth.

Lead the estimating function for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service, repair,

retro<t, and capital project work, ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive, and

aligned with operational and <nancial goals.

Manage, mentor, and develop the estimating team, providing guidance, training,

and quality review to build capability and consistency across the group.

Prepare and oversee complex cost estimates and detailed scopes of work, including

material take-o=s, labour analysis, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.

Review service reports, de<ciency lists, drawings, speci<cations, and site

assessments to develop clear, defensible scopes of work.

Collaborate with project managers, technicians, suppliers, and operations to

validate materials, labour, timelines, and constructability.

Lead and coordinate bid and tender submissions for service and capital projects,

including reviewing and approving estimates prepared by team members.

Analyze completed projects against estimates to identify variances and

continuously re<ne estimating assumptions and benchmarks.

Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to secure

competitive pricing and reliable quotes.

Maintain organized estimate <les, pricing documentation, and historical cost data

to support future bids and decision-making.

Support leadership with pipeline planning, workload distribution, and resourcing

across the estimating team.

Champion process improvement, knowledge-sharing, and a collaborative culture

within estimating and across operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, with a strong focus on HVAC and

plumbing service, repair, and project work.

Post-secondary education in mechanical, engineering, construction, or estimating

disciplines is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, or leading an estimating team or

junior estimators.

Experience establishing or improving estimating systems, standards, or processes is

a strong asset, given the build-and-lead nature of this role.

Advanced understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and integrated mechanical systems

across commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-residential sectors.

Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, speci<cations, and

tender documents.

Strong command of estimating methods, take-o= processes, and cost-analysis

principles.

Pro<ciency with Microsoft O8ce Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with

estimating or take-o= software is an asset.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of

accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach others and

collaborate across teams.

Working knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and industry best

practices.
