Duties include:
This position will involve driving a 5ton truck- picking up food from various donors- there are anywhere from 10-15 stops per run. Return to our warehouse and unload. It is physical work.
This could also include picking up empties (bottles) from our bottle donation bins. There are 15-25 stops per run. You drive from one location to the next, and then empty the bin. A lot of stop and go driving with multiple stops.
THIS IS NOT a driving only job. There is a lot of physical work required at each stop.
NOTE - air brake endorsement is not required. All you need to drive our vehicles is a class 5 drivers license.
Weekend availability is a MUST. The right candidate will regularly be working weekends and a mix of shifts from early in the morning (6am) to late at night (latest about 9pm).
Being familiar with the operation of a 5ton truck, pallet jacks and forklifts are all assets - but not required. We can teach all the necessary skills.
When not driving truck, you will be working in our warehouse with staff and volunteers. There are a variety of tasks we need done each day; sorting food, dumping rotten produce, building pallets, unloading trucks.
The right candidate needs to be punctual, have a positive attitude and be prepared to integrate into a team environment.
Please note - this is a physical job. You need to be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively. This is NOT a driving only type of job. The driving is broken up with LOTS of physical hand loading of trucks. This position can start in mid July.
After a 3 month probationary period we can offer a benefits package (medical and dental). The job comes with 2 weeks paid vacation time, based on a 40 hour work week.
