What we do:
Following the guidance provided in the Government of Canada’s Internal Audit Policy and Directive, the Office of Audit and Ethics (OAE) provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services with the goal of adding value and making recommendations for improvements at the CNSC. Reporting directly to President Velshi, the OAE prepares reports on a broad range of CNSC activities that aim to help the CNSC accomplish its objectives and contribute to improvements in the areas of risk management, controls and governance processes.

Your role:
Reporting to the Audit Principal, you will be responsible for leading Audit Projects:

  • Plan and lead internal audit engagements or other reviews and draft clear, structured audit reports based on criteria and evidence gathered. This includes but is not limited to:
? - Develop the scope, objectives, methodologies, project plans, and milestones for audit projects;
? - Evaluate the relevance of findings and recommendations, ensure adherence to professional standards;
? - Formulate strategies for effectively communicating findings and recommendations and securing commitment to action by Senior Management;
  • Lead research, implement best practices and recommend internal audit policies, procedures and processes.
  • Providing advice and guidance to less experienced Internal Audit staff
Essential Qualifications:Education:
  • University degree or acceptable post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. commerce, business administration, or economics).
  • A designation in one of the following: Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Government Auditing Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner or Certified Management Accountant.
Experience in:
  • Planning, conducting and leading internal or external audits or other assurance work and leading the drafting of project reports.
  • Formulating strategies for effectively communicating results with affected individuals, negotiating consensus on project findings and recommendations and validating Senior Management’s commitment to action.
  • Supporting or participating in audit committees or other senior management committees.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary project teams
Knowledge of:
  • Government of Canada policies, directives and guidance for Internal Audit; Institute of Internal Auditors Professional Practices Framework; and internal audit principles, standards, procedures, techniques, methodologies and emerging trends,
  • The application of project management principles; risk-based internal audit planning and methodologies; and audit report writing principles, standards and techniques.
  • Legislative and policy framework for financial management in the public sector
Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively orally and write in a clear and concise manner
