We're looking for a Director of Corporate Communications & Public Relations, to join the Toronto Marketing Team.
You are passionate about customers and building strong brands through effective communications strategies. Reporting to the CMO, you will lead the development and direction of strategic external and internal communications for Sunwing Travel Group. Taking the lead in drafting and overseeing content for a range of internal and external audiences, you have a solid understanding of our business strategies to drive compelling content across our multiple channels and platforms. To this role, you bring strong communications expertise, the ability to collaborate with business leaders, and bring industry best practices to drive effective engagement.
What You’ll Do:
You will develop and own the strategy for external and internal communications, focusing on but not limited to:
External Corporate Communications and Media Relations (proactive):
Develop, plan, direct and execute corporate communication initiatives that increase awareness and enhance our Sunwing brand with our customers, the general public and media.
Proactively lead an earned media PR strategy externally to support our brand message in a positive light.
Drive PR campaigns that support our corporate narrative and brand initiatives.
Partner with the marketing team to collaboratively drive integrated campaigns on both a national and regional standpoint.
Lead strategic communications planning and execution, working directly with senior leaders and their teams to drive an exceptional communications experience for anything that is external to the organization.
Measure the communications program and create analytics reports (with daily, weekly and monthly reports) to ensure quality, maximize impact, track success and develop best practices
Crisis Communication & Reputation Management (Reactive)
Oversee all media relation inquiries to the organization.
Manage all events externally (with partners) that pose a threat to our reputation.
Develop planned approaches to consider for any threats that can be foreseen throughout the year.
Develop key communication materials including press releases, media pitches, executive speaking notes, and a variety of communications
Act as the key media contact for customer, brand, product, issues management and community initiatives
Provide partnership to leaders across the organization on communications strategies and approaches for engaging and supporting employee communications.
Manage, execute and evaluate a variety of internal communications against clearly defined goals.
Support the evolution of the Sunwing corporate culture in partnership with the People and Culture team.
Sunwing Foundation & Philanthropic Partnership Strategy
Oversee the strategy and execution of the foundation.
Drive objectives of awareness of the foundation’s work, with positive sentiment for Sunwing as a pillar of the community.
Extend the partnership strategy of the foundation to like-minded organizations to make meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
What You’ll Need:
You have a Degree or Diploma in communications, public relations, marketing or equivalent experience
10+ years' experience in corporate communications with internal and external expertise
A proven track record of improving brand reputations to enhance customer experience and drive growth
Superior writing skills with the ability to customize content for targeted audiences
Strong relationship building skills and capability to work with multiple groups and senior leaders on complex and time-sensitive initiatives
A proactive and creative approach, ability to develop concepts with limited direction
Understand and manage sensitive communication issues and challenges
Solid strategic planning skills, excellent time management skills, and the ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Leadership and mentorship experience to develop a team
Bilingual in French and Spanish is an asset
