As a Part-Time Youth Care Worker at our youth therapeutic program located in Burnaby, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to an at-risk youth with complex mental health and behavioural challenges. The line is 24 hours/week, Friday-Sunday, 3pm-11pm.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a related field and/or equivalent experience working with at-risk youth
Experience working with at-risk youth with complex mental and behavioural challenges
Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed care
Ability to set strong boundaries
Experience doing youth outreach
Knowledge regarding brain injury and higher rates of impulsivity emotional dysregulation, processing disorder, lower ability to evaluate risk and diminished critical thinking skills
Knowledge of neuro-cognitive disorders and presentation
Experience working with clients with self-injurious behaviour
Understanding of attachment disorders
Demonstrated knowledge of FASD, ADHD, and attachment and trauma issues (or desire to learn)
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
Minimum Class 7N BC Driver's License (Class 5 preferred) and acceptable driving record
Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority

Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication
Salary: $21.68-$23.50/hour plus benefits
