Qualifications:Essential:
Experience delivering payroll services to a client group, including processing payroll transactions such as leaves, pay adjustments, appointments, new hires, terminations and records of employment (ROEs) using an automated payroll system
Experience administering employee benefits plans, including calculating and processing deductions and prepayments
Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, regulations and collective agreements related to Canadian payroll administration
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a team environment
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely in a professional manner
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent verbal communication skills

Desired:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification through the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA)
Experience delivering payroll services in a unionized environment

Duties:
Reporting to a Pay and Benefits Manager, the Pay and Benefits Consultant (PBC) works independently, displaying a high degree of initiative and decision-making ability in the administration of a complex pay and benefits program. The PBC provides expert pay and benefits services to a large and diverse client group operating under several collective agreements. The PBC must work under strict deadlines while adhering to applicable legislation, policies and regulations.
