Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our industrial maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting heavy machinery and equipment within a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and technical expertise to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are met. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will work closely with other maintenance personnel and production teams to support continuous manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty equipment, including engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to identify issues and execute repairs efficiently.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including low voltage controls and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Weld, fabricate, or modify parts as needed using welding equipment and mechanical skills.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS software.
- Assist with HVAC systems, boilers, or other auxiliary systems as required.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards during all maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize operational disruptions during repairs or maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance or heavy machinery repair within manufacturing settings.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by electrical experience, including low voltage systems.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical diagrams, and troubleshooting electrical/electronic components.
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and CMMS software is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, welding techniques, and industrial electrician practices is a plus.
- Ability to analyze complex mechanical and electrical issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and quality standards.
- Good communication skills in English for documentation and teamwork purposes.
