As an integral member of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the responsibilities of the MDRD Specialist include: developing and coordinating the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Quality Assurance Program, developing MDR staff core competencies, implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives, ensuring measurable/reportable and sustainable results, adhering to MDR standards and verifying Instructions for Use (IFU's) as new equipment and instrumentation enter the system. The MDR Specialist is also responsible for writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Policies for all MDR processes. Regular review of UHN's MDR compliance specific to CSA standards and Accreditation Canada standards will be required along with analyzing data driven from incident reporting, QC and KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management
Develops and maintains a comprehensive Quality Management Program including standard operating procedures (SOP's), policies and procedures, quality control, quality assurance, data Collection, assessment and improvement;
Patient Safety
MDRD Staff Safety
Accreditation Compliance
Act as Accreditation Lead for MDRD
Standard Operating Procedure & Policy Development.
Performs Administrative Responsibilities
Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.
Performs cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Qualifications:
At minimum, completion of a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent required
Certification in MDRD program from recognized college preferred
Certification in Quality Management (Systems or Programs) preferred
At minimum, 1-2 years of practical and related experience required
Certification with MDRO preferred
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
