What you can expect in a typical day
We are looking for two Project Managers to join our Products and Terminals (P&T) team in Saint John, NB. Although both will support our terminals in Eastern Canada, one position will focus on capital projects that affect all of our terminals and the other will focus on capital projects that are site specific. Both positions lead the development and execution of assigned projects. Overall responsibilities include preparing project execution plans, budgets, schedules, as well as funding requests for each phase. Managing more than one project at a time, you will work collaboratively with the Project Controls Specialist, Supply Management, Operations and other stakeholders to mitigate risk, manage scope, as well as identify other opportunities for improvement.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables ensuring they align with overall business goals; complete the Project Execution Plan.
Submit funding requests for each project phase, direct the completion of Engineering packages, and work orders, ensure procurement and contracts deliverables are complete.
Develop and own the schedule, control costs and quality; identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, presentations and all other necessary project communication.
Establish regular communications with project team members and stakeholders ensuring expectations and progress are clearly communicated; ensure alignment of key stakeholders.
Draft and submit budget proposals; recommend changes where necessary.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Proactively identify any issues or conflicts within the project team and take action to correct.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential problem areas, and recommend contingency plans.
What you’ll need to succeed
Strong financial acumen.
Able to provide direction to different team members while working on multiple projects.
Flexible working style to adapt quickly to changing priorities, unforeseen circumstances, and tight timelines; able to redirect the focus of the team quickly.
Strong communication skills; written, oral, and presentation skills.
Proactive mindset; always searching to identify possible issues from multiple areas and developing plans to mitigate.
Strong knowledge of project software, e.g. Primavera, MS Projects, etc.
Occasional travel within Atlantic Canada, up to 10% may be required. The travel requirement for the site specific position could be up to 25%.
Education and experience
Post-secondary education in business, arts, engineering, industrial trades, or equivalent experience.
PMP (Project Management Professional) designation is an asset.
Minimum 8 years of experience in a Project Manager position or on projects as a core team member.
Experience working with project execution models (PEM).
