We are seeking a composed, organized, and mission-driven individual residing in Prince George to serve in a dual-capacity role as Northern Regional Manager/Decedent Transfer Technician. This position combines leadership responsibilities with frontline operational work, supporting both the administrative and practical needs of the Prince George, Cariboo and Peace regions.
The Role
As Northern Regional Manager/Decedent Transfer Technician, you will oversee the coordination of regional field operations while also responding to transfer calls as needed. You will support and mentor team members, ensure policy compliance, and maintain STSL’s high standard of professional service. In addition, you will participate directly in decedent transfers, bringing dignity and professionalism to every call .
This role requires strong leadership skills, emotional maturity, excellent communication, and the ability to remain calm and grounded in sensitive and challenging environments. The flexibility to travel and remain in another region with limited notice for extended periods when operational needs arise is a must.

What You'll Do
Leadership & Staffing
- Ensure adequate staffing levels for the region
- Monitor technician availability and adjust scheduling based on call volume
- Support, mentor, and conduct check-ins with staff
- Ensure compliance with STSL policies and procedures
Managerial Oversight
- Manage regional call assignments, response times, and deployment efficiency day/night for the northern regions.
- Travel between and stay in regions when operationally necessary
- Oversee completion and accuracy of documentation and reports
- Ensure vehicles are maintained, equipped, clean, and operational
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and implement improvements
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters
Administrative Duties
- Use internal systems for communication and scheduling
- Maintain professional relationships with hospitals, care homes, law enforcement, and partner funeral homes
- Provide operational updates and reporting to senior leadership
Decedent Transfer Technician Duties
As part of this dual-role position, you will also support frontline operations:
- Respond promptly to transfer calls, often on short notice
- Safely and respectfully transport decedents using company vehicles
- Navigate tight spaces, cluttered environments, and narrow stairwells during removals
- Complete required documentation accurately and professionally
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all circumstances
- Interact compassionately with families, law enforcement, and medical staff when required
- Drive throughout the region and surrounding areas, including in adverse weather and road conditions
What We're Looking For
- Must reside in Prince George, as a central location between the northern regions
- Class 5 driver's licence (ICBC), with no restrictions
- A reliable personal vehicle to travel to team meeting points before shifts
- Ability to lift 150+ lbs unassisted and assist moving up to 300 lbs with a partner
- Clear criminal record check (provided at no cost to you)
- Reliable availability for on-call work
- Emotional maturity and composure in sensitive situations
- Comfort working with deceased individuals in various conditions, including exposure to bodily fluids
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanour
- Ability to provide your own dress code attire: plain black collared shirt, black pants, and closed-toe black shoes or boots
Important: Nature of the Work
This role involves routine exposure to human mortality. You will encounter deceased individuals in various states, which may include traumatic injury, advanced decomposition, and other difficult scenes. The ability to witness these conditions while maintaining professional composure is a condition of employment. If you are uncertain whether you can manage this aspect of the role, this position may not be the right fit.

Workload varies based on call volume and staffing needs and hours fluctuate based on call volume. Includes administrative tasks, field presence, and operational transfer duties and strong alignment with STSL values.
