Sales Consultant - Job Summary
The Sales Consultant is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout every stage of the vehicle purchasing journey—from the initial greeting through delivery and ongoing ownership support. This role builds lasting customer relationships by understanding individual needs, providing expert product knowledge, and guiding customers through a transparent and professional sales process.
The Sales Consultant is passionate about customer satisfaction, achieving sales objectives, and representing the dealership and manufacturer with integrity. Success in this role is measured by sales performance, customer experience, product knowledge, follow-up, and the ability to generate repeat and referral business.
Working collaboratively with all dealership departments, the Sales Consultant contributes to a positive team environment while ensuring all sales activities are completed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with dealership policies and industry regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Experience & Relationship Management
- Welcome every customer promptly, professionally, and courteously.
- Build rapport by actively listening to customer needs, preferences, and budget.
- Guide customers through the vehicle selection process by presenting products and services that best meet their requirements.
- Deliver a personalized buying experience that builds trust and long-term customer loyalty.
- Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the sales process and after delivery using their preferred method of contact.
- Resolve customer questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Generate repeat and referral business through exceptional service and relationship management.
Sales Performance
- Achieve individual sales, gross profit, finance penetration, and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Proactively prospect for new customers through phone calls, referrals, networking, digital leads, and community engagement.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently follow up on opportunities.
- Participate in sales promotions, marketing initiatives, and dealership events.
Product Knowledge
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all new and used vehicle inventory.
- Stay current on manufacturer products, technology, accessories, incentives, financing programs, and warranty offerings.
- Develop an understanding of competitor vehicles and market trends.
- Confidently explain vehicle features, benefits, and ownership advantages to customers.
Sales Administration
- Ensure all customer information, sales documentation, and regulatory paperwork are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare vehicles and documentation to ensure a smooth and professional delivery experience.
- Maintain accurate customer records within the dealership system.
- Follow dealership sales processes, policies, and compliance requirements.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Collaborate effectively with Finance & Insurance, Sales Management, Service, Parts, and Administration to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Participate in manufacturer and dealership training programs.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the dealership positively at all times.
- Keep workspaces clean, organized, and presentable.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace culture.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Previous automotive sales or retail sales experience is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and scheduled dealership events.
Pay: $30,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
