We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Pursuits team! The role supports and leads the integrated pursuits process with a mechanical focus. As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be:

Supporting and occasionally lead specific Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with a mechanical focus.

Read and clearly understand an issued Statement of Requirements; review, understand and interpret job specifications and drawings and follow through with estimating process to develop and assist in competitive pricing.

Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc. and in meetings and presentations with clients and partners.

Work with design teams to ensure the design not only matches the prescription, but is focused on an efficient design with cost control at the forefront.

Work in conjunction with our consultants to complete system layouts in order to assist with estimating process.

Assist in producing material and labour take-off through estimating software to develop accurate quotations.

Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing to include within the final quotation provided to client.

Co-ordinate system installation requirements with other design disciplines where required.

Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity and overall profitability and remain up to date with current techniques, codes and standards and developments to sustain and improve technical skills.

Participate in closing the bid including bid review meetings.

Participate in hand over meeting with Project management team after award.
Our ideal candidate has:
-
Minimum five (5) years of Engineering experience within the Mechanical Consultant or Construction industry focused on mechanical building systems (i.e. HVAC, Hydronic, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Fire Protection).

Experience in ICI Design Build / P3 project delivery is strongly preferred. Building projects within the healthcare, government, office or hospitality sectors an asset.

Working knowledge and understanding of all relevant building codes and standards (ie. ASHRAE, OBC, NBC, NFPA, CSA).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Accubid Pro and/or Enterprise a definite asset.

Ability to travel – ie. Able to attend meetings at Architects and Consultants.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and NMS specifications an asset.

Professional Engineer, Licensed in the Province of Ontario or Ingénieur, Licensed in the Province of Québec, is considered an asset.
