Project Manager

About Our Client
Our client is an established industrial construction and design-build organization specializing in the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Their projects bring together civil and concrete construction, structural steel fabrication and erection, fabric building systems, mechanical systems and equipment installation, and electrical systems and controls.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership of technically diverse construction projects and working directly with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
As the Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of industrial and design-build construction projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and contractual requirements.
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead projects from award through completion and closeout, establishing clear objectives, priorities, schedules, and project requirements.
- Coordinate the activities of internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and multiple trades to ensure all project scopes are delivered effectively.
- Develop and maintain project schedules while identifying potential delays, conflicts, and resource requirements before they affect project delivery.
- Ensure project activities remain aligned with contractual requirements, drawings, specifications, budgets, and established timelines.
- Independently manage projects involving foundation and civil work, structural steel, fabric systems, mechanical installations, and electrical systems and controls.
Financial Management
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and financial projections throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs and identify variances, risks, and opportunities for corrective action.
- Manage change orders and ensure scope changes are properly documented, priced, approved, and incorporated into project plans.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to maintain accurate project financials and support overall project profitability.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing clear communication, regular project updates, and effective issue resolution.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project execution and ensure expectations are clearly understood and managed.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, engineers, and internal teams to resolve technical and operational challenges.
- Lead project meetings and ensure decisions, action items, and commitments are clearly documented and followed through.
Construction Coordination
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contractual documentation to ensure project requirements are understood and communicated effectively.
- Coordinate the sequencing and interaction of multiple construction disciplines to minimize conflicts and maintain project progress.
- Work with field teams and subcontractors to address construction issues and develop practical solutions.
- Proactively identify project risks and implement strategies to mitigate their impact on schedule, cost, quality, and client satisfaction.
Project Controls & Closeout
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, change orders, RFIs, submittals, meeting records, cost reports, and progress reporting.
- Monitor project performance against established milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Ensure outstanding deficiencies, documentation, commissioning requirements, and contractual obligations are addressed prior to project closeout.
- Conduct project closeout activities and ensure projects are completed to the required standards and client expectations.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of construction project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing industrial, commercial, mining, fabrication, or design-build construction projects.
- Experience managing projects involving multiple construction disciplines and subcontractors.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, project management, or a related discipline is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of construction project delivery and project management principles.
- Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost control, and change management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts.
- Strong understanding of the coordination and sequencing of civil, concrete, structural steel, fabric, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management or scheduling software.
