British Columbia Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia are seeking a full-time pediatric Urologist. B.C. Children’s Hospital serves as the major referral centre for infants and children throughout the province of B.C. and the Yukon (population 4.8 million), and provides comprehensive, family-centered, interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment for congenital and acquired urological conditions, traumatic injuries, cancer, Renal replacement therapy and other complex health conditions of childhood.
The successful candidate will replace a retiring full time Pediatric Urologist and join three other established pediatric urologists at a comprehensive, freestanding, newly built Children’s Hospital with an established teaching focus, including an accredited Urology Residency, and a newly developed Pediatric Urology fellowship program. The preferred candidate will have certification in Urology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and have successfully completed an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Urology. Demonstrated expertise and/or a proven record in teaching, research, robotic and MIS Urological surgeries and pediatric renal transplantation are required. An advanced degree in clinical or basic research, surgical education or Health Systems Leadership is a desirable asset. There is an expectation of commitment to the teaching of undergraduate students, residents and fellows. Participation in outreach activities, telehealth, a multidisciplinary spinal cord clinic and transition care is required. The on call rota will be 1 in 4.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Candidates must also be eligible for appointment to the Department of Urologic Sciences, University of British Columbia. Remuneration and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
