We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and is committed to providing outstanding customer service. The successful candidate will work closely with our pharmacists and pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Receive, process, and prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
- Accurately enter prescription information into pharmacy software.
- Prepare prescription labels, organize medications, and assist with dispensing workflow.
- Answer telephone calls and assist patients with prescription inquiries, directing clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Process third-party insurance claims and resolve billing issues when appropriate.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all privacy and pharmacy regulations.
- Receive and put away medication orders and maintain inventory levels.
- Perform inventory counts, rotate stock, check expiry dates, and organize shelving.
- Assist with compliance (blister) packaging and medication organization.
- Assist customers with front store purchases, operate the cash register, process payments, and provide excellent customer service while maintaining an organized retail area.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dispensary and front store.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and other team members to provide exceptional patient care.
- Follow directions from the pharmacist and adapt to changing workflow priorities throughout the day.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily pharmacy operations.
Qualifications
- Previous community pharmacy experience is preferred.
- 2 years Kroll experience must
- Experience using Kroll Pharmacy Software is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take direction from the pharmacist.
- Experience with third-party billing and pharmacy workflow is an asset.
