SMT Line Operator

Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced SMT Line Operator to support the operation, setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production line.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating SMT equipment, maintaining production output and quality, troubleshooting equipment and software issues, supporting defect and root-cause analysis, and assisting with process improvements. This role is well suited to a technically minded individual with hands-on SMT equipment experience and a strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Set up and operate SMT production equipment, particularly pick-and-place equipment, to achieve optimum production output and quality.
· Ensure new products flow efficiently through the SMT line while following established company procedures and protocols.
· Monitor production activities and maintain output in accordance with established production schedules.
· Troubleshoot SMT equipment, software, and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
· Adjust equipment settings and parameters to maintain consistent, high-quality production output.
· Collect, compile, analyze, and report data related to SMT operations, equipment performance, and production issues.
· Perform failure analysis and root-cause analysis of production defects, quality issues, and field returns.
· Conduct inspections and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure SMT production meets established quality standards.
· Identify opportunities for process, equipment, and quality improvements and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
· Perform preventive maintenance on SMT equipment as required.
· Follow all established safety procedures and ensure safe operation of SMT equipment.
· Perform material-handling activities and maintain accurate material and work-in-process (WIP) inventory.
Qualifications
· Technical diploma, associate's degree, or equivalent education in electronics, electrical engineering technology, manufacturing technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in an SMT technician or SMT equipment operator role, preferably within an electronics manufacturing environment.
· Hands-on experience operating and setting up SMT equipment, particularly pick-and-place machines.
· Experience with Siemens/Demetic or similar SMT equipment is considered an asset.
· Proficiency with Surface Mount Technology software and programming tools; experience with Aegis software is strongly preferred.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
· Strong understanding of SMT manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and production quality requirements.
· Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality control standards is considered an asset.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
