Position Summary
The Subject Matter Expert (SME), Health Data Analytics will assist in developing assessments, and instructional content that can be taught to learners that will meet the competencies within specific courses in a Heath Data Analytics diploma program.
Candidates must be committed to working to produce high quality course design and curriculum processes that are up to date with current and best industry practices and standards.
Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Curriculum Development and Deliverables
- Identifies the workplace tasks and competencies for a new Health Data Analytics diploma program.
- Identifies the quality indicators of successful practice for the Health Data Analytics diploma program.
- Reviews and populates the Course Outline, Syllabus and Competency Based Education
- Makes recommendations on learning materials and other
- May assist with the development, review, validation of competencies, tasks, sub-tasks, and performance criteria
- Develops learning pathway materials (curates or creates materials)
- Develops assessments (authentic performance-based assessments, formative assessments).
- Reviews, finalizes, and validates courses in D2L: gradebook, instructor profile, welcome message and other pertinent
- Creates Reference page (bibliography of all materials within the course).
Works closely with Instructional Designer to ensure

Responsible for locating/securing resources
- Ensures all materials are copyright
- Ensures all deliverables are completed on time and per project’s
- Locates, analyzes, curates, creates and modifies resources as
- Works closely with Learning Innovation to ensure materials/resources are
- Communicates with Learning Innovation Associate Dean and Programming Officer re: timelines, contract, payment and updates.
- Ensures all revisions are incorporated before the project end
- Participates in update meetings either via email, telephone or in person as
- Keeps open and continuous communication with the staff in Learning
Other Duties/Special Projects
Follows College Policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor in computer science, data science, statistics or related discipline
- 5 years of experience in health care industry setting
- Proficiency in statistical software coding and modeling in Python or R
- Proficiency with Relational databases
- Proficiency with one or more of Tableau, SQL, PowerBI,
- Proficiency with research principles, frameworks, concepts, statistical methods and processes to address population and public health issues to inform decision-making.
- Understanding of research methods and operations within the Canadian Health care system.
- Knowledge of Health Information Management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field is preferred
- Instructional or curriculum development experience in a related field or in a post-secondary environment would be considered an asset
- Experience working successfully in a team based educational setting
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required
- Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional writing skills
- Curriculum development experience an asset
- Industry relationships an asset
